Helmholtz Zentrum is a member of the Helmholtz Society, one of the two biggest Academic Alliances in Germany. Its parent University, Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) is the leading university in Germany and was amongst the first Universities of Excellence in Germany.
As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalised medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, epigenetics, environmental factors and lifestyle under a fully international umbrella.
