About Rodrigo
Rodrigo obtained his degree in Genetics from National University of Misiones – UNaM (Posadas, Argentina). Under the supervision of Dr. Cristian Ferri at Institute of Biotechnology Misiones (Posadas, Argentina), his final project involved the study of how the expression of kinases mediate the resistance to standard treatments on patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia.
After finishing his studies, he joined the group of Dr. Patricia Saragüeta at Institute of Biology and Experimental Medicine – IBYME (Buenos Aires, Argentina). In collaboration with the group of Miguel Beato at Center for Genomic Regulation – CRG (Barcelona, Spain), he worked on the mechanisms of gene expression during the hormone-induced proliferation and differentiation of endometrial cells, particularly those related to changes in the chromatin structure. He gained experience not only in NGS-related experimental assays such as RNA-seq, ChIP-seq and Hi-C but also the skills for the bioinformatic analyses. This has allowed him to get an integrated view of the processes of generation and interpretation of high throughput data.
Currently he is a member of the Structural Genomics group led by Marc Marti-Renom at National Center for Genomic Analysis – CNAG (Barcelona, Spain). As an Early Stage Researcher (ESR) inside the ChromDesign network, Rodrigo is focused on computational development of a single framework for 3D modelling of genomes through integration of diverse experimental data interrogating the genome structure.
